Virgin Media upgrades business fibre network offerings
Communications August 13th, 2010Virgin Media’s transaction arm has upgraded its High Capacity Services offerings from 1Gbit/s to 10Gbit/s. It has too upgraded its Ethernet offering.
Virgin Media Business product manager David Green uttered: "This will help businesses to use dedicated high-speed lines to entrance mission-critical data, link to a datacentre running applications, or trip their own [private] cloud computing services."
"The upgraded High Capacity Services sacrifice can now support up to 40 x 10Gbit/s circuits betwixt two sites," said Green.
"With High Capacity Services, customers be able to purchase a number of 10Gbit/s connections (either LAN or WAN) or alternatively whether or not they require discrete 1Gbit/s, then we can provide multiple 1Gbit/s services," he added.
The enhanced Ethernet Extensions sacrifice means customers can connect multiple sites up to 35km apart and integrate their furniture at both sites. This is an upgrade from the original Ethernet extensions – in like manner called LAN extensions – which could provide point-to-point circuits at bandwidths of 10Mbit/s, 100Mbit/s and 1Gbit/s betwixt two locations at a distance of 25km.
Green said: "We are sacrifice a 10Gbit/s line, and if customers want to carve this up into added granular chunks, say 1Gbit/s, then they are able to fare so at their site."
Like High Capacity Services, Ethernet Extensions are proactively managed ~ the agency of Virgin Media Business.
Green said the pricing would be dependent concerning a customer’s unique requirements and that Virgin Media offers of great scope standard service-level agreements (SLAs) with the services.
"However," uttered Green, "we’ll look to tailoring our services for our custome rs and be disposed, where possible, create SLAs that meet specific customer requirements."
The offerings are aimed at wholesale, national sector and corporate customers, who can order online through Virgin Media Businesses’ purchaser portal.
